Formal Opening of Training Course of National Costume Processing in Resettlement Village at Myitsone Hydropower Project (HPP)


On February 28, the training course of national costume processing was formally opened in Maliyan Resettlement Village at Myitsone HPP. SPIC, together with the Resettlement Village Committee, ceremoniously held the opening ceremony.

On the basis of full solicitation of opinions from the Resettlement Village Committee and the villager’ representatives, SPIC jointly promoted and held the training course of national costume processing for the purpose of realizing sustainable development, improving the production capacity and helping increase revenues in the Resettlement Village, and reserved skilled personnel to open the national costume processing plant in Maliyan Resettlement Village.

On the ceremony, Zhang Huangui, the person in charge of the Sustainable Development Department of ACHC of State Power Investment Corporation,Daw Kaw Mar Wu, the Senator from Saw Law Township, the Kachin State Parliament, U Htun Htun, the head of Waing Maw Town, and U La Maing Yaw Aung, the head of Maliyan Resettlement Village, jointly cut the ribbon of the training course, and investigated the preparations of looms and preparatory works for this training course. Moreover, U Tin Yu, the Senator from Moe Mauk Township of the Kachin State Parliament, U Htun Htun, the head of Waing Maw Town etc. delivered speeches successively. They gave full recognition to the work carried out by SPIC in the Resettlement Village, and required villagers to cherish the opportunity of assistance provided by SPIC, and try to improve their own laboring skills to create wealth and improve their living standards on their own.

This opening ceremony was also attended by four representatives of senators from Saw Law Township, Moe Ning, Moe Mauk and Shwegu of the Kachin State Parliament, the head of Waing Maw Town of Myitkyina County, the chief of Police Station of Waing Maw Town, persons in charge of  Gway Htoo Militia regiment etc. The 6 media including Mizzima, D.Wave, Democracy Today, the Myawady Daily, Skynet, EPN and the Yadanabon followed and interviewed throughout this ceremony.
