Visit of Community Delegations from A Lan Village and Lang Village to Chipwi Nge Hydropower Project (HPP) for Investigation


From February 24 to 25, 17 delegates from A Lan Village and Lang Village visited to Chipwi Nge HPP for investigation and to understand the operation and power supply conditions of Chipwi Nge HPP in details.

During this visit, engineers from China and Myanmar of ACHC and Chipwi Nge HPP introduced in details about the dam construction, dam safety, flood control and power generation, environmental protection, operation of generator unit, computerized centralized control, power transmission and supply and social responsibility activities to be conducted for residences around both in Burmese and Kachin. U Moke Yan, the head of A Lan Village, said: I communicated with many Myanmar workers of the HPP and they all mentioned that SPIC paid high attention to the safety of Myanmar workers. Workers no matter from China or Myanmar or at different levels were happy working here! U La Aung, the deputy head of Lang Village, after visiting to Chipwi Nge HPP, believed that Chipwi Nge HPP was very advanced in technology and managed very well!

A Lan Village and Lang Village are located respectively on left and right banks at lower reaches of Ayeyawady River in Myitsone. These two villages have jurisdictions over 16 natural villages and 5 districts. In 2017, both of these two villages were powered by Chipwi Nge HPP.

By January 31, 2018, Chipwi Nge HPP had continuously operated safely for 1,952 days, output 805.808 million KWH of electricity and paid 2.56 billion Kyat of taxes and duties to Myanmar Government in total. This HPP can provide stable and high-quality power supplies to the villages around and residences in Myitkyina, Moe Ning, Moe Kaung etc., having facilitated their productions and lives.
