Investigations of Upstream Ayeyawady Hydropower Projects

The President Office of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar issued a Notification (No.2016/58) on the 12th day of August 2016 concerning the establishment of the Investigation Committee on the Upstream Ayeyawady Hydropower Projects. Upstream Ayeyawady Confluence Basin Hydropower Co., Ltd. (The Company) hereby releases the following statement:
1. The Company supports the Union Government of Myanmar for establishing the Investigation Committee on the Upstream Ayeyawady Hydropower Projects to conduct the responsible investigations concerning the Upstream Ayeyawady Hydropower Projects.
2. The Company welcomes the investigations on the Upstream Ayeyawady Hydropower Projects to be organized and conducted by the Union Government of Myanmar and believes that they will help the wide spectrum of general public understand the real situation of the Projects, help the state and public make an accurate judgment on the Projects, and will also be helpful to clarify the information relevant to the Projects and the Company, and to protect the reputation of the Company and its legitimate rights and interests.
3. During the implementation of the Ayeyawady Hydropower Projects, the Company had conducted the project construction activities strictly in accordance with the Myanmar laws and relevant contract agreements. The Company will continue to uphold the spirit of abiding by the laws and covenants, and the tenet of performing its corporate social responsibility, and will offer its full cooperation on the investigations.

Announcement of ACHC for Continuing to Cooperate with the Investigation CommissionDate: November 12, 2016
It is reported that the Investigation Commission for the Ayeyawady-Myitsone Upstream River Basin Hydropower Projects submitted the first report on 11th November, 2016.
Since 12th August, 2016, the Upstream Ayeyawady Confluence Basin Hydropower Co., (ACHC), in accordance with the Commission’s requirements, has fully cooperated during the investigation.
We will continue to make efforts to cooperate in the further investigation as requested by the Commission. We also expect that the Commission will accomplish an objective and fair investigation report.
